Hi Anne Sorry to be a nuisance! I have been having a further look at the 1851 Census information you posted for Adam and it would appear to me that the William Adam, widower, aged 73 at 9 Bridge Street could be Thomas Adam's father. Thomas had a sister named Jane (Jean?) and another named Isabella but their ages are adrift by about 3 or 4 years less. I also have a Margaret Adam born in August 1827 which would make her 23 at the time of the census but if the 3 or 4 years difference applied here also could this be the E... you have included?
