(my g.g.g grandfather) Robert Stuart m. Christina Stewart no dates. Children: John b. February 17, 1826 Peter b. June 12, 1827 Robert b. May 26, 1835 Christina was born near the border line of Banfshire in the county of Aberdeen about five or six miles from Keith on a small farm named Hill Side, and I am incline to think afterwards was taken into the Geddes Estate, and one of her sisters I am inclined to think was married to the father of the late Lord Mount Stephen. The family moved to Dufftown abt. 1838 The children emigrated to Ontario Canada in 1852. Their father, Robert is buried in Dufftown at the old Presbyterian Parish churchyard. My aunt saw the flat stone there leaning against the church building. I am told that Bailiebain is in the vicinty of the Lecht road somewhere between Tomintoul and Cockbridge, Strathdon. The 1865 OS map for that area there is a place named Bailiebain located due north of Tomintoul just past Glenconglass in the parish of Kirkmichael (BNF). My g.grandfather's letter to his son stated: "there was only about 8 or 10 small houses divided into Wee Buts and Ben's. Outside of these houses it was all sheep pasture, with Glenlivet distillery 4 or 5 miles away, the owner of which is said to have the finest shooting preserve in Scotland. " I hope this is of help to your research. If you have anything that is of help to me, please contact me. Stephanie Stuart stuart@starband.net
