Hi List [apologies if you get this twice] It may be my imagination but I think the Aberdeen List, which has just been converted to the new "improved" Rootsweb service, has actually collapsed. Messages are not being forwarded - confirmed by Gavin. There have been four messages on the Aberdeen List Archive today - 24th August - and none of them have been forwarded. Have to admit two were from me which is how I knew there was a glitch. I've sent an email to Carol - treetops, List Admin, but if anyone on the Banffshire or MORAY lists has any connection to the Rootsweb service could you let us know what the situation is? Pretty please?? Sorry to bother you all. Best wishes Ray Hennessy www.whatsinaname.net
There have been some problems with the converted lists. (Lists A - C). There are a few gateway interface problems, some problems with delayed delivery of mail, and a few email providers have blocked the new Rootsweb mail address. List admins are dutifully reporting these problems. Neither list admins nor list subscribers can affect the outcome -- or hurry the processes required to fix these problems. Patience is required during this transition time. You can read list mail via the List Archives. Check the yellow "Problem Box" on http://helpdesk.rootsweb.com/ for explanations, and for changes to the conversion schedule. You can see the kinds of problems being reported by going to the archives of the Listowners list. (go to http://helpdesk.rootsweb.com/ and scroll down to "Mailing Lists" ) But please have patience, and please - do not post messages about mail problems to the lists; send such messages to your list administrator. All list admins can be reached by sending email to e.g. SCT-BANFFSHIRE-admin@rootsweb.com Substitute listname as in LISTNAME-admin@rootsweb.com for any other list. Thank you.
