Fun to see all those familiar names but slightly different connections. Your 6x Great grandparents John Elder and Janet Cowie are also in my tree. He was brother to George Elder, who was my 4x great grandfather. George married Ann Stuart in 1773, and had 10 children, the youngest of whom, Ann, was mother to the John Duncan I am searching for. John and Isabella Catto had an illegitimate daughter (as far as we know) who was my great-grandmother. She was known as both Joan Catto and Ann Duncan, and was born in 1862. John went on to have a family later with wife Ann between 1873 and 1889, but unfortunately I know little of them except their names. Would love to hear from any other Cattos and Duncans from the Alvah area to exchange information. Marilyn
