Hi All, Anyone able to help me sort out this line? I think I may have found the link to one of my Great Grandfathers. James GEORGE married Anne GAULD 29/8/1824 at Botriphinie(GROS 148/00 0002) James and Anne Had 5 known children: Adam 1825 James 1827 John 1830 Jean 1832 Isobel 1835 An Isabella GEORGE gave birth to an illegitimate son James on 7/12/1857 at Botriphinie (have birth registration). Much trolling through Scotlands People and the IGI would suggest that Isabella was the above Isobel (in 1841 she is at home as Isobel and in 1851 she is still at home as Isobella. No sign of her in 1861). At the 1861 census I have found what I believe to be the illegitimate James living with Isabella STEWART at Cairnhill, Rothiemay. By the 1871 census he is working on a farm at Gartly. If I have the right man he then departed for New Zealand in 1878 in the company of a GRANT and a REID. In New Zealand he used the name James Stewart GEORGE. At the 1851 census, living with Isabella STEWART is her son James whom I suspect was the father of the illegitimate James GEORGE. In the 1871 and 1881 census Isabella is alone and I believe she died 1885. Would love to swap notes with anyone who may link to this GEORGE family or, for that matter, the STEWART/STUART's. Believe Isabella's parents to have been Peter and Isobel (HENDERSON) STEWART. There are a raft of descendants of James here in NZ as he married twice and fathered a total of 13 children, my Gran being the eldest. Regards, Stew WATSON King Country, New Zealand
