Carlow, Ireland abt.1810, came to St.John's, Newfoundland abt. 1830, had three sons, James (my Grandfather), Thomas, & Patrick. Spelling of name is MIRON and MYRON..... which continues to today.i.e. My name is MYRON, but any MIRON is a relative(at least in this area). Church records have many other variations as Myren, Mylau, etc.. even Moran......but these are obviously misspellings. The International Genealogical Index lists James Miron b. abt.1810 and Michael Miron, B 1811 in Kilinane, Bagenalstown Co. Carlow. Church records in that area list both Miron and Myron and on the Baganelstown Web site is listed two natives Thomas and Michael Myran killed by the British in the 1794 uprising.. Gr.Grandfather's gravestone reads MIRON as well as Ann (Kinsella) MIRON, his wife. His son, my grandfather's gravestone reads James MYRON. His other son Thomas's stone reads MIRON, and his third son Patrick's stone reads MYRON.
