There are so many James Ingrams born in Banff, but some moved away to other nearby parishes that were part of Aberdeenshire. I thought he was possibly chr c1801. FreeREG is a sister project to FreeCEN, but aims to put all the OPRs online – eventually. As you can imagine, it is a huge project and will take a long time to do. We have County Co-ordinators in place for Moray, Fife, Angus, Banff, East Lothian, Orkney, Aberdeen, Caithness, Sutherland and Nairn but I would be delighted to hear from anyone who would like to take on a county. I can also arrange for transcribing to be done by parish. All you need is to have, or have access to, a microfiche reader (the film is cut up into strips) - we use a small program called Speedreg to enter the data into. Unfortunately we cannot have cds for this project. This transcription will have far more information in it than is available at present on the IGI. If you are at all interested you can contact us via the above website or write to me, Anne Fish, (Scotland Co-ordinator) at annef1@tiscali.co.uk for more information.
Happy New Year to you too! From one born in the year of the dog - a long time ago...
