The family lived variously at The Shore, 14 Newlands Lane and at 7 Bridgend, all BUCKIE. They had a number of children including a 'George' but I have not, as yet, got details. It is the KEMP family which I am researching though, as coincidences happen, my brother in law is a COULL from Ferryglen, near Montrose. History shows that the Duke of Montrose wanted to bring some fishing boats andtheir crew to Montrose to build the business and 'bought' the boats and crew from Buckie and brought them to Montrose. We need as many participants as possible in order to establish clear lines of descendancy and migration patterns of the family. Participants must be males with the surname Trail (or any variant spelling), because the study is based on transmission of the Y-chromosome from father to son. We are seeking men with any form of the surname, from any part of the world, especially the United States, Scotland, and Ireland. Migrations of Traills (mostly with the double-L spelling) are known in Canada, Australia, New Zealand, and the West Indies (Barbados, Jamaica, etc.), as well. All are welcome to join! Hi All, Have embarked on the mammoth task of trying to sort out the various STEWART families in Banffshire (for the moment up till 1860). My particular interest is in Rothiemay, Botriphnie area but they seem to spread all over. Would appreciate contact from anyone who has connections and could help me sort out who belongs to whom. My major problem is with marriages - which of the many possible Peter STEWART's was it that married Isabella HENDERSON? I am gradually stripping all the baptisms from the old parish records so have quite a large collection of individual family groups but, as I say, am having trouble identifying the father in each case. Thanks you in anticipation. Regards, Stew WATSON King Country, New Zealand

Hi I'm also researching families in that area of Scotland, as well as a different Cumming line than yours. I was wondering where you got the dates for the indididuals in you tree and why you think that a line could be missing? William Cumming b.1719 would only have been 42 years old when his son George was born. Was his wife (Christian Wilson) older then him or younger? There are some men in my family who were close to 70 years old and still having children (with their much younger 2nd or 3rd wives of course...)! Maggie Barron Ottawa, Ontario, Canada

Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/ReC.2ACI/2798 Message Board Post: Familytreesonline.co.uk - Newsletter Issue 4 1/6/2006 Hi Welcome to the monthly newsletter! This month has been pretty much Cornish oriented as demanded by you the users of this site, thanks for the feedback! There are a few other bits and pieces in here too, but more of that later. I’ve also been kept quite busy with my responsibilities as an Online Parish Clerk. I’ve neglected my transcriptions a bit getting this site up and running, so I went back to do a bit this month, in case anyone was wondering why I hadn’t added to the site for a couple weeks J. If anybody has had any interest in the Parish of Sithney, Cornwall, then look out soon for some new additions to that site. Enough with the waffling! Updates Well this month, as mentioned previously, has been mainly devoted to Cornwall, but not entirely……. Firstly we’ll start with one of the big guns of Cornish ancestry that has sprung up in recent years. The Cornwall Online Census Project (COCP) was started by the same people that started up the OPC scheme, and is very similar, but with the obvious exception that they deal with all parishes in Cornwall, and just the census returns at that. It has recently undergone a number of changes, the main one is that a search engine facility is now up and running, making it incredibly easy to find those elusive ancestors. Its still a work in progress, with the 1871 & 1881 census returns being undertaken, and the 1901 census is in the pipeline. This is one of the essential sites for finding you’re Cornish roots. Another Society has submitted for listing. The Cornish Forefathers Society has a site where you can buy all manner of transcriptions and is also chock full of links, well worth a visit. An interesting little site has also crossed my path this month. If you have found a lline of ancestry that disappears into thin air, have you ever thought that they may have gone to South America? A little known site that covers these people can now be found on my site, I found a number of odd cousins after a few minutes of searching. Also in the Cornish vein are a mining index site, some 16th century wills and also sites pertaining to the parishes of St Erth and Illogan. I did digress a bit as a few sites crossed my path. A brilliant site that finds graves for you - you can even look up the rich and famous! Also to be found this month are genealogy sites covering the Counties of Houghton & Keweenaw in Michigan, A wills exchange site which is useful and a new project specialising in Pennsylvanian ancestry. There is also a Canadian census site, and a site put together by a lady researching her own ancestry, which takes us from several Cornish parishes, to Pennsylvania again and then some. A good variety that I hope you can all find some use for. By no means have I added all the Cornish sites out there, but more will be coming soon. Coming this month..... I’m blowed if I know what I’m adding this month! I’ve had a real variety of stuff arriving, including a massive file containing links to New Zealand sites and loads more. I think I even got some links for Polish ancestry, anyone from Poland?? Thanks this month go to.... Blanche Charles For submitting the NZ stuff as mentioned above - it’ll keep me busy for months, love it!! Looking forward to working with you in the next month regards Damien

My father (also John A S Clark) occasionally took me to visit the Cook's house in Ellon when I was very young - we lived in Aberdeen at the time. As I recall, Henry Cook was a policeman in Ellon. I've just begun to look into the Clark family history and found it interesting to see some of my relatives already mentioned here. As far as I know, the South Itlaw farm remained in the family - my grandfather's step-brother Willie Clark inherited it, and it passed down through his daughters - it continues in business as a pig farm under the Donald name.

Hi All, Anyone able to help me sort out this line? I think I may have found the link to one of my Great Grandfathers. James GEORGE married Anne GAULD 29/8/1824 at Botriphinie(GROS 148/00 0002) James and Anne Had 5 known children: Adam 1825 James 1827 John 1830 Jean 1832 Isobel 1835 An Isabella GEORGE gave birth to an illegitimate son James on 7/12/1857 at Botriphinie (have birth registration). Much trolling through Scotlands People and the IGI would suggest that Isabella was the above Isobel (in 1841 she is at home as Isobel and in 1851 she is still at home as Isobella. No sign of her in 1861). At the 1861 census I have found what I believe to be the illegitimate James living with Isabella STEWART at Cairnhill, Rothiemay. By the 1871 census he is working on a farm at Gartly. If I have the right man he then departed for New Zealand in 1878 in the company of a GRANT and a REID. In New Zealand he used the name James Stewart GEORGE. At the 1851 census, living with Isabella STEWART is her son James whom I suspect was the father of the illegitimate James GEORGE. In the 1871 and 1881 census Isabella is alone and I believe she died 1885. Would love to swap notes with anyone who may link to this GEORGE family or, for that matter, the STEWART/STUART's. Believe Isabella's parents to have been Peter and Isobel (HENDERSON) STEWART. There are a raft of descendants of James here in NZ as he married twice and fathered a total of 13 children, my Gran being the eldest. Regards, Stew WATSON King Country, New Zealand
