Isabel died 16 August 1876 aged 60 Her parents were Charles and Margaret as you thought. Her husband William died 29 May 1887 aged 77. They had eleven children as far as I know (I have dates etc for most of them along with some of their offspring). My ancestors also farmed there and I still have McConnachie relations in the area. Please get in touch. I tried to contact you directly but the e-mail was bounced back. Eileen

Apologies to anyone getting multiple copies of this message as I have also posted it to some Message Boards and other Exchange Lists. I lost my email service sometime yesterday morning. Anyone trying to contact me won't have got through. I don't know if messages are being lost or stored up somewhere, or if outward messages are being transmitted. I hope to be back online soon - if I can find out where the service has broken. The "What's In A Name" website is working OK. Best wishes Ray Hennessy

(my g.g.g grandfather) Robert Stuart m. Christina Stewart no dates. Children: John b. February 17, 1826 Peter b. June 12, 1827 Robert b. May 26, 1835 Christina was born near the border line of Banfshire in the county of Aberdeen about five or six miles from Keith on a small farm named Hill Side, and I am incline to think afterwards was taken into the Geddes Estate, and one of her sisters I am inclined to think was married to the father of the late Lord Mount Stephen. The family moved to Dufftown abt. 1838 The children emigrated to Ontario Canada in 1852. Their father, Robert is buried in Dufftown at the old Presbyterian Parish churchyard. My aunt saw the flat stone there leaning against the church building. I am told that Bailiebain is in the vicinty of the Lecht road somewhere between Tomintoul and Cockbridge, Strathdon. The 1865 OS map for that area there is a place named Bailiebain located due north of Tomintoul just past Glenconglass in the parish of Kirkmichael (BNF). My g.grandfather's letter to his son stated: "there was only about 8 or 10 small houses divided into Wee Buts and Ben's. Outside of these houses it was all sheep pasture, with Glenlivet distillery 4 or 5 miles away, the owner of which is said to have the finest shooting preserve in Scotland. " I hope this is of help to your research. If you have anything that is of help to me, please contact me. Stephanie Stuart stuart@starband.net

Yes, I would be interested in more details of your line - off board if it's easier, and we can swop information as appropriate - there is another 'set' of CLARKs in which I have an interest, leading back to a neighbouring farm around 1700, and I'm still looking for the two lines to come together.

You can view replicas at New Register House, but you can also do so (probably cheaper) at Family History Societies and LDS centres. If the Kirk Session Minutes are not at the National Archives, then they may still be with the original parish (or its successor) but they won't be in Aberdeen. Aberdeen City Archives do hold some KS records, but only for parishes and congregations in Aberdeen City. Gavin Bell

Dear Listers, At long last I've managed to make that visit to Edinburgh and managed to move ahead on a number of fronts. Some of you may remember that I was trying to solve a few mysteries about my Cunninghams from the Port Gorden area. 1. James Coull, born 1845 in Focabers to widow Jessie, was fathered by Charles Coull (on James' marriage entry described as a Master shoemaker, and from Jessies testimony to the Bellie session , Charles was of Bogmoon, and the child conceived before he went to his harvest! Does anyone know anything more about Charles? He wasn't keen to acknowledge his actions untl the Minister prevailed upon him in private! 2. David Cunningham, born 1832, and described as a Corporeal in the 19th Regiment was married in 1855 in Dundee, Forfar to Robina Hunter, daughter of Ann and Major Robert Hunter. I could find no more thereafter. I expect recordsof Army personnel will be in Kew, but does anyone know any more about the 19th, and where it operated after this date? Unless he got killed he certainly sounded as if he may have done rather better than the rest of his family! 3. Finally not all the records I wanted were at the Archives. I was hoping for the Premney marriages and births and also for Session Minutes. Are these in Aberdeen/ Cheers, mary

Here is the information I have relating to the Youngs here. Andrew Young born: March or April 1780 Scotland married Mary (?) born: 1805 Scotland children: Hugh Young b: March 1827 Scotland John Young b: 1831 or 1836 Scotland Agnes Young b: 1832 Scotland Margaret Young b: 1833 - 1834 Scotland The family then set sail for Canada around the time of 1836-1838 since I have a record of the first child born in Canada birth Feb.1839 in New Brunswick Canada. There were three more born here in Canada. Along side of these stones at the cemetery I found the names of William Young and Thomas Young but with only information regarding the death no information to who they were. I am guess that if they are related then they are brothers, cousin or nephew to Andrew and were already here in Canada or came with Andrew and his family. Or sons from a first marriage since Andrew is a lot older then wife Mary. Does any of this sound like a part of your family tree? if so then please email and I will share all information about the family here in Canada. Canadian Girl

This website will tell of the building of the Capitol Building. http://www.ci.austin.tx.us/library/ahc/capitol/design.htm Many of the granite workers who came from primarily the Aberdeen & Banffshire areas went out there to work on this building. My next thought is court records or some record of her "crime" that brought her to be a bond servant. This would quicken my search. Do such records exist?
