You don't give any dates or timeframe, so this is just a stab in the dark. Elizabeth PACKMAN was born Bellie, died 20-9-1892 at Quarryhead age 63. I believe she was sister of Joseph PACKMAN h/o Jane GEDDES (one of 'mine') who marr 21-11-1863 Orbliston and lived at Quarryhead or Quarryend 1863-1897 and probably beyond (Elizabeth Packman lived next door for years, at Quarryend in 1881 and Quarryhead in 1892). She had a son Joseph RUSSEL(L), born 1860/61 Grange, who I assume was illeg and whose father I expect was named Joseph Russel(l). Hope that helps. Regards Howard

Hello List, The 1864 Alford marriage record of William DALLAS and Helen GRASSICK shows his parents as George DALLAS and Helen MITCHELL. Helen was third daughter of James GRASSICK and Penelope ALLANACH aka Penelope STEWART; I have much on the GRASSICK side, looking to fill in on the DALLAS side. At the time of his marriage, William was a farm servant and his residence was given as Braehead in the Parish of Monymusk. The 1881 LDS census cd shows Braehead at Monymusk to be a farm of 200 acres arable with 6 farm servants then, so am (bad word ->) assuming that in 1864 William DALLAS was probably living there and employed as a farm servant. Several months ago, LDS site was showing the 1843 birth/christening record for William DALLAS at Forgue, Aberdeen. Now LDS no longer showing the Forgue record, but is showing an 1843 birth/christening record at Marnoch, Banff, with the same parents, but now his name given as "William DALLAS or MITCHELL". scotlandpeople site is showing Forgue record but the image is not available and has to be ordered; not showing is the Marnoch record. I will order the LDS microfilms of both locations to determine if there are any differences. Further, LDS not showing a marriage record for George DALLAS and Helen MITCHELL, nor any additional children for this couple. This, and the multiple name birth/christening record for William indicates (to me) his parents probably were not married (am assuming William's birth/christening record will indicate his status of legitimacy.) It is believed William DALLAS died sometime between 1866 (birth record of daughter Penelope DALLAS) and 1869 (wife Helen marries James GORDON at Udny, her status given as widow). However, after extensive search on scotlandpeople site, I am unable to locate a death record for William DALLAS or any possible variant or mispelling. My request: If anyone has 'easy' access to the 1851 Forgue and Marnoch or the 1861 Monymusk census records, I would like a lookup for William: whom was he residing with, were they family members, what was his status in the household (son, nephew, cousin, boarder, lodger, etc), or anything else that may be helpful in finding more about him, his family, and his life before marriage. Also, if anyone else is researching this DALLAS family or has any additional information about this William DALLAS or his parents George DALLAS and Helen MITCHELL, I would be delighted to know it. Many thanks for your help. Deb O'Reilly http://mywebpages.comcast.net/dcoreilly Midlothian, Virginia USA ps: I can do lookups for 1841 Alford, 1851 Glenbucket and 1861 Strathdon census records.
