Knut, in the "Muster Roll of Prince Charles Edward Stuart's Army 1745-46 ed by Alastair Livingstone of Bachuil, Christian W H Aikman and Betty Stuart Hart, 1984, it is stated, among other brief facts, that Colonel James Innes of the Forfarshire (Ogilvy's) Regiment was an "Uncle to Coxton". This will be Innes of Coxton, near Elgin, in Morayshire. I know that family has/had a pedigree in Burke's Peerage and Baronetage (which although probably not completely reliable, may give you some further information), as they were Baronets of Nova Scotia. Good luck. He is said to have been born in Cullen and was involved in both 1715 and 1745 risings. After the battle at Culloden he was arrested and executed 21st October 1746 about 70 years old. I want information about his parents. Perhaps someone can do a lookup in some Jacobite litterature? James Innes was married to Mary RAMSAY who died in 1747. She is buried at the old cemetry of Banff. I suppose perhaps she was from Banff, or at least had some relatives there. James and Mary got several daughters. One of them was Mary who was married to Alexander PATERSON, a merchant of Banff. This daughter may be the one who was christened in Banff 1st January 1712. I want information about Mary's family. Who where her parents, siblings and other daughters? Does anyone know of the origins of Patrick Russell of Montcoffer who I believe built Montcoffer House in 1683? Thomas Russell, a burgh councillor of Elgin d 1707 (first husband of my ancestor Elspeth Sutherland, daughter of William Sutherland of Rosehaugh) mentions Patrick Russell of Montcoffer in his testament. I wonder if there is a connection... Peter Grant London
