    3. At Last. A name I was beginning to think was not a name at all! My fourth great grandmother was Elizabeth McBARNET. I came across the name on her daughter's death certificate, and all enquiries lead me to believe the spelling must have been wrong. ( I apologize to all the McBarnets) The information I have as follows: Elizabeth McDonald (married name also M(a)cDonald) was born abt 1782 Kilmonivaig Inverness, and died 17 June 1856 Spean Bridge Inn, Kilmonivaig Inverness. Father: Donald McDonald. Mother: Elizabeth McBarnet. I would be delighted to hear from anyone who has any information about the McBarnet name, and perhaps the above Elizabeth McBarnet and family? Thank you C J Stevens

    3. I have a William Teunan/Teunon in a line I am researching. William was christened 15 March 1830 Marnoch, Banff. Parents: James Teunan & Ann Webster. In 1851, William was living with James McAndrew and family in Turriff. ( spelling of his surname on the census being Teunon!) He married Mary McAndrew, daughter of the above James. Most of the Teunons appear to have come from Marnoch, Keith, Forglen and Turriff. This probably is not of much help to you, but as it is an uncommon name, I am delighted to find someone else researching it. If I find out anything more, I will send it on. C J Stevens

I plan to go to Keith in spring there is an excellent geneology section. Stewarts sister is also the registrar there. I went to see her last March but she was on leave. Is the northern scot a scottish publication you see which country are you in?? I have had an email from them today - all it says is that there are plans but no details. I don't know much about the siblings etc. of Helen...but we do have a photo of a Major Wm. Gordon with his plaid in an album that came with the family to Canada.

Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/ReC.2ACI/2101.1.1.1.1 Message Board Post: According to research undertaken by a distant relation of mine Lieutenant and Captain Donald are one and the same and prior to his marriage to Helen McPherson, and whilst still a Lieutenant he had a "natural daughter", Janet, born to him by Chirsty (Christian) McKay living in Dornoch. Janet was married to James Gordon on December 7th 1819. There is a headstone to Jessie McBarnet and her husband, James Gordon, found today in the old St. Columba's churchyard, which I believe is in the parish of Kingussie. James Gordon is shown as a shepherd in Phoness in the Kingussie Parish Register on the birth of two of his and Janet (Jessie) McBarnet's children, Helen, born November 14th and baptized December 6th 1821, and James, born December 7th, 1823 and baptized January 6th, 1824. According to the headstone, there were at least two other children, Jessie born c. 1820 and Alexander born c1835. So it would seem Jessie is the half-sister of Donald and Helen McPhersons children. Donald and Helen had nine children altogether unfortunately none survived to bear them any grandchildren. To place myself in this picture my gt/gt/gt/gt grandfather James was brother to Donald McBarnet. Donald was first born to James and Beatrice McBarnet, James Jnr was second born then came William, Mary and Alexander. I hope this is of some help and would be interested to know which of James and Jessie's children you are descended from. I have much more information regarding the McBarnet line and would gladly share it if you wished. Andy McBarnet

She then reappears in Kingussie where she married James Gordon (1792 - 1876) in 1819 who was the shepherd to Capt McBarnet of Ballachroan. I can't prove it but I'm sure that her mother died and her father remarried Helen MacPherson in 1810. I already have her baptism, marriage and death details and census records but I would love to prove that she was a half sister to the later children of Donald and Helen. Thanks, Sue

I wander if someone of these families (Innes, Ramsay) ever went to Nova Scotia. Probably they just bought the title and some land there? Knut Bryn, Molde, Norway
