Hi Anne There seems to be more than one John Tayleour around at the time, but most earlier baptism records in Fordyce don't show the wife's name so it's not so easy to untangle the families. But a Cecily Tayleour was bpt 1718 in Fordyce to John Tayleour and Janet Thain: she married William Clark of Slogmahole Fordyce in 1744 and they had a family there. I don't know where the Tayleours lived but presumably nearby. My Geddes family who also farmed at Slogmahole eventually took over the Clark's farm at Slogmahole: since they seemed to have lived beside each other for some 60 or 70 years, I've been trying to discover whether any of the Clarks of Slogmahole married any of the Geddeses of Slogmahole, but that's another story I suppose. There is one relevant Margaret Tayleor recorded in the IGI (from the OPR), bpt 14-Aug-1700 to John Tayleour. She could be a sister of Cecily. Perhaps if you checked the actual OPR you'd be able to untangle the families by grouping baptisms by place names - if yours turns up at Slogmahole, I can at least give you info about the Cecily line. Hi Bev I do have a Ingram in my family but its abt 100yrs earlier. I have a Jean Ingram m John Michie in Banffshire, allthough I dont know their dates of birth or marriage they had the following children. Alexander Michie b oct 9 1794 William Michie b dec 2 1787 John Michie b nov 14 1789 all born in Gamrie Banff It was the above Alexander who m Barbra Heatherwick who went on to have Elspet Michie b july 23 1838 m Alexander Morrison and so on It does seem strange that we both have Morrison and Ingrams directly linked but abt 100 yrs apart One would have to assume that the link is there its just how to find it. This is my Taylor line: Isabella Sandison born 1831, Inverkeithny married James Taylor June 2, 1855 in Ordiquhill. James was the son of George Taylor and Christina Sharp. This family is shown in the 1881 census living in Fordyce on Old Cullen Street: James Taylor, Head, M, age 53, Oridquhill, Ag Lab Isabella Taylor, Wife, age 50, Inverkeithny Christina Taylor, Dau., unmarried, age 25, born Ordiquhill Adam Taylor, Son, unmarried, age 11, born Portsoy Ann Taylor, dau., unmarried, age 9, born Portsoy John Sandison, boarder, unmarried, age 63, Inverkeithny The above John Sandison is a brother to Isabella; Isabella was my great grandfather, Peter Sandison's sister. The marriage certificate of James Taylor and Isabella Sandison show witnesses as George Taylor and Alexander Taylor. Their daughter, Ann Taylor married a Henry lawrence on March 10, 1893 in Portsoy.

My Margaret Tayleor m Alexander Brebner abt july 1726 in Fordyce Alexander was b circa 1696 in Fordyce therefore it is possible that my Margaret Tayleor was b abt 1705 in Fordyce as this would of made her abt 21 when she married, either way I think its a good bet she was born in Fordyce. I will try to find out some more information and let you know and hopefully you will do the same. I am finding Alexander very elusive especialy with census information.I could not even find his marriage on the scotlands.people site.Can anybody outhere with access find him on the 1891 census?I always thought he was a Policeman in Ballindalloch,but perhaps he was only a Policeman after he moved to Aberdeen.thank to all. Hi Willie, On a marriage certificate I have for a relative, I noticed one of the witnesses is an Alex Lobban - the groom was Alexander Duffus and the Bride Mary Chisholm. Would Marcia know of an Alex Lobban? The marriage took place in Portsoy -which is close of Cullen. The Bride is my great-aunt.
