    2. Howard Geddes
    3. Hullo Kate, there's an Ancestral File within FamilySearch which seems to cover your family of Margaret Sim and Robert Still right up to 1965: was it indeed your submission? My interest is in another daughter of James Sim and Elspet Mitchell: Mary SIM was born 30-May-1803 Banff. She married James GEDDES 15-Mar-1828 in Fordyce (perhaps there's an OPR record in Banff too), and they ended up with lots of family at Melrose Gamrie. As James Geddes was born in Fordyce, and from the farming community, the chances are he's one of 'mine', and I'm trying to identify him but so far it's proved impossible. What I can say with absolute certainty is that the Ancestral File's statement that he was born 26-Sep-1792 Fordyce is incorrect: the James Geddes bpt that day died 4-Aug-1817 age 25 according to an MI in Fordyce churchyard. James Geddes h/o Mary Sim seems to have died before 1855 and there is no burial record surviving. I have gathered a fair amount of info about the James Geddes / Mary Sim family, but nothing helps to pin down the identity of this James Geddes. Can you add any insights? Howard Geddes

My grandfather's sister was Mary-Anne Stables ( nicknamed Aunt Polly) and she married a George Fowlie and they had a son named George who managed an Estate at Cowdrie Hall.I think this is the spelling of Cowdrie Hall as the piece of paper that this info was written on is in quite light printing. I am not sure of Mary-Anne's birthdate but I do know she was younger than my grandfather, Alexander Stables, and he was born in 1886 in Banffshire. Alexander Stables was married to Annie Moir Edmond born in 1887 in Aberdeen. I think her GGrandmother and her brother lived with an Annie Moir after their parents both died ( TB epidemic, or something) and so she was named after this Annie Moir. When checking out one of the Scottish Websites I found and sent away for a death certificate of an Annie McLean who's father was John Moir. She passed away in 1890 at the age of 93 and on it the informant was a James Stables. So, I think there must be a conn! ection there with the Edmonds and the Stables. Hope there is a connection. 3. G'day Cobbers, It appears that Queensland BDM, with the new Queensland Federation Index 1890 - 1915, are disabling the export feature on the software, as the did with the Queensland Pioneer Index 1829 - 1889. Every other Australian State has no problems with the export function and always it to be active for their Indexes. The disabling of this function must the program an abortion. There is no real reason for the export function to be disable. I therefore request that as many individuals as possible email the address below, requesting that for the Queensland Federation Index 1890 -1915, that the export feature be made active and not disabled. I was looking at a rough copy of part of my family tree and I saw a George Stables married to a Kate. In brackets there was a Dod by her name. I have been searching for a Kate DOD. Interesting enough , my grandfather was one of George Stables brother by the name of Alexander Stables. He married a Annie Moir Edmond. I believe both of her mother's parents had died and they were taken in by family or neighbours and my grandmother was named after, I believe the woman that took her in by the last name of Moir. I am not sure if she was Anne Moir but I have seen a copy of a death certificate of an Anne Moir that had a grandson's name of James Stables on it.
