    3. Just in from Leanne Piper. Cheers, Scott Cameron .... trusting all is well. Wow, sure is cold here today, pretty close to 0 deg. cel., yet no snow. Guelph, Ontario, Canada. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Here are the links and info I have been able to gather about the Tiree 2006 gathering. The email I referred to was actually from you, forwarded from Catriona Hunter, about collecting stories and artifacts for An Iodhlann. Here are a few other related tidbits: http://www.mullgenealogy.co.uk/mugg2006.htm http://www.hi-arts.co.uk/Default.aspx.LocID-hianew00v.RefLocID-hiacfy00d001.Lang-EN.htm The Tiree gathering, christened by islanders "A'Bhuain", means 'the harvest' in Gaelic. Set to take place from the 22-26 May 2006, concerts, island tours, a programme of talks about the history of Tiree and a huge dance have been pencilled in, tying in with an exhibition chronicling the stories of families that emigrated. It is estimated that around 40,000 people around the world can trace their roots back to Tiree. Ross Lilley, of Scottish Natural Heritage (SNH), one of the agencies in the Tiree Development Partnership, said: "What is happening on Tiree is a brilliant example of what can happen when islanders have the will and outside organisations can help them find a way. The natural heritage of the island is amazing - but it is only there because of human activity. So SNH is very happy to help local people as well as helping the wildlife." --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
