Organizers hope other descendants of Isle of Tiree, Scotland, who live in Wellington County will come forward in time for the event. So far, some 70 families have registered. Local families who are direct Tiree descendants include those of Scott Cameron, Craig Piper, Gordon Campbell MacFarlane and Ross McLean. Cameron and neighbours Archie MacKinnon and Leanne Piper started organizing the event, and Internet exchanges are connecting families and relatives separated for years, through the Web site www.isleoftiree.net.
