    1. Tiree Gathering Request
    2. Valerie Bowden
    3. I am the GG Grandaughter of Hector McLEAN (1806) and Ann BROWN (1816) who emigrated from Tiree to Ontario in 1849 on the Charlotte. Living in England I am sadly unable to attend the Tiree Gathering. However I am wondering if some kind person who is able to attend would be able to take my family tree (4 pages of A4 paper) along with them? My prime search is for my Grandmother Matilda (aka Tily / Lily) ELLIOTT born 1883 Ontario and who abandoned my 3yr old father at the House of Refuge in Walkerton in 1903. The reason she gave was that she had to 'hire out' to make a living so she left Walter there and he was eventually 'fostered' by another family. She and her mother Jessie McLean Elliott then seem to vanish! If my tree could be displayed on the wall somewhere it might just help me make that vital link! If anyone is able to help at all that would be wonderful. Best wishes Valerie Elliott

    1. RE: [SCT-ARL-TIREE]Tiree Interconnections Project--Family Trees and Histories
    2. Hi Valerie Elliott and all Tiree Listers, Thanks for your "tip of the iceberg" question, Valerie. "Tiree Interconnections" is the Genealogy Project of the Tiree Descendants Gathering 2004. Although, we haven't officially put out a call for all family trees yet, I will give you and other Listers a preview of where we are heading: In this Project we will be attempting to make available as many family trees as possible in a variety of forms, to as many researchers as possible, at the Gathering and before it and after it, as follows: 1. Computer Database: of all submitted electronic files (GEDCOMS). 2. Charts: "drop down" 1-page style, physically displayed on the walls. 3. Histories: 1-page family stories. 4. Paper Files: for trees which we do not receive in the above formats. 5. Webpages: to search the computer database and to display the Charts and Histories on the Internet. As you can imagine, several of us are working furiously behind the scenes to get as much of this in place as possible before the Gathering. The details about how to submit your family tree and history to the Project should be available within the next 10 days. We will also be inviting people to submit their 1-page histories simultaneously to this List for the benefit of all researchers. To prevent overwhelming the List, it has been suggested that we do a Roll Call by Clan name in order that the stories post here in a staggered fashion. So, please watch the list for all those exciting details, Louise MacDougall Vancouver Island, BC Canada Networking Liaison Tiree Interconnections "Connecting families together to create the Tiree Family Tree" A Genealogy Project of the Tiree Gathering 2004 http://www.tireegathering.com
