    1. The MacLean's and the Butter's probably/possibly of Tiree

    3. This is a continuation of my, so far unsucessful, quest to trace ancestors or at least find independant facts of their existance. Donald Archibald MacLean,(my Grandfather), born Tiree 1881 had seven brothers and/or sisters. Alisdair married and had seven children Marion not married John Kennedy I think this is a son of John Kennedy MacLean, who was given the same name as his father! Effie married and had three children Hugh married and had five children Marion (another?) unknown Mary Isabella unknown Meanwhile, John Kennedy MacLean married Helen Butter, Helen had nine brothers and/or sisters. John no family Mary Agnes Steuart unmarried Madeline Jane unknown Alexander no family Jessie Fulton unknown Francis Milne unknown Anna Evelyn unknown Edwin Athol unknown (The Executor) Herbert William Waller unknown I am fairly confident that most of the above should prove correct as a letter relating to the distribution of an estate came from a solicitors firm of Glen Mackinnon & Mowat, William St, Greenock mid 1973, detailing the above. All of the above persons will now be deceased. All of the above shared the estate, so I can only guess that there must have been family relationships between both groups, or at least within each group. I have no dates or spouse details of any of the above, except my Grandfather of course. It would be great if anything rang any bells/ lit any lights. Iain Watson iain@freenet.co.nz
