    3. http://www.rootsweb.com/~onbcgs/ August 2004 - Great article in the Bruce Bulletin that I received in the mail today from the Bruce County Genealogical Society. I tried to copy / paste it for all to read, but it is not on the website at this time. So, looks like you will have to log on and sign up for a membership > "Individual Membership $15 annually. Includes our quarterly newsletter, the Bruce Bulletin." Great publication. From what I read BCGS's Shirley Irwin and Audrey Underwood enjoyed themselves as much as we enjoyed having them at the Gathering! Thanks again "Friend of the Bruce" for a memorable job well done! Recently I was on vacation in the Bruce in Southampton. Had I remembered I would have of stopped in for the every other Monday night meeting at the Bruce County Museum http://www.brucecounty.on.ca/museum/ . While in Southampton I tried to get together with our entertaining tour guide Don Ribey, but Don was back at it ... entertaining! Next time. This past weekend I was at the 59th Fergus Scottish Festival, http://www.fergusscottishfestival.com/ for those who have been there, wonderful, for those who have not and ever get the chance to do so ... do it ... great entertainment. While there, just on the Sunday I got to enjoy time with my new found clan ... Clan Keith re: Marshall sept. I did not run the 10 km race this year due to baseball coaching my son David's team. We finished the year in second place, not bad considering we were not favoured to finish near the top. However, we enjoyed the underdog thrill of first place finish last year. Tomorrow night I head off with my chanter for my first venture into the world of learning to play the bagpipes! Aye, Leanne and Archie it will be sweet sounds to your ears when you hear the pipes from the Cameron croft ... no need to close your windows! In closing, I will be looking to rent a cottage for a week next summer in the Bruce or within a drive of Guelph, so if you know of anyone who rents a cottage let me know please. You see the cottage we rented this year after several years recently changed to new owners and was a bit of a "cottage from hell" week. Maybe it had something to do with the rental falling on Friday the 13th! So there I was for a good part of the days playing Mr. Handyman re: water, lights, toilet, hot water tank, etc.. Grrr! Thank goodness I had brought my tool box. Two weeks we are back to the Bruce to camp at MacGregor Point Provincial Park http://www.ontarioparks.com/english/macg.html. Aye, but while in the Bruce this past week my son David, daughter Laura and I rented kayaks and kayaked the Saugeen River from County Road 17 for about 15 km through beautiful countryside and rapids. I highly recommend this activity re:www.thorncrestoutfitters.com/southampton.htm . Lots of routes / distanc! es to choose from. Great shuttle service. Thorncrest will even shuttle your own canoe / kayak. Cheers, bye for now. Scott
