Hi Barbara, Thank you for pointing that out. I've been back to my sources, which support her early marriage:- On the 1841 Census for Hough Mary's age is 35 (Therefore born ca. 1806) On the1851 Census in Moss Mary is 45 (Again, born ca. 1806) On 25th Oct 1861Mary died aged ca. 53 which would make her even younger (born ca. 1808) However, I've just noticed that I'd not entered the information John Black in Australia so kindly sent me. Taken from the CD-ROM "Scottish Records" at his FHC; Mary McLean, daughter of Lachlan MC LEAN and Ann MC PHAIDEN, was christened on 1 Nov 1799 in Kilninian and Kilmore, Argyll. With kind regards and thanks Gail ----- Original Message ----- From: <BabsFayth@aol.com> To: <SCT-ARL-TIREE-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Monday, February 13, 2006 9:43 PM Subject: Re: [SCT-ARL-TIREE] MC NEIL, MC LEAN and MCPFAYDEN (and spelling variants) > Gail, I was just looking at some dates here in your email - > > On 13 Oct 1795 Lachlan MC LEAN, a crofter, married Mary McPFAYDEN in > Kilninian, Argyll. > > Then you say: > > Their daughter, Mary b. ca. 1808 then married Lachlan MCNIEL, b. ca. 1801 > on > 15 Oct 1822. > > I am wondering because That would have made daughter Mary only 14 when she > married Lachlan McNiel.
