    3. Having been unsubscribed a number of times in the last week, I can offer the following advice: 1. The fault is not with RootsWeb or SCT-ARL-TIREE, it is with your Internet Service Provider (ISP). 2. The RootsWeb HelpDesk will respond quickly to your problem and explain its causes; your ISP HelpDesk will respond slowly and with indifference. 3. The problem relates to the use by your ISP of "SpamCop" or similar systems to block incoming e-mails, as explained by the RootsWeb HelpDesk: "Sounds like your ISP is using SpamCop to monitor their mail, and hence rejecting email from one of RootsWeb's list servers. Please see the announcement at the HelpDesk as it contains required information." 4. This is the HelpDesk announcement: Mail Lists:2006-02-08 SpamCop has/had RootsWeb on their blacklist The blacklisting website SpamCop has, or has had, some of our mailing list servers listed on their <http://www.google.com/search?q=define%3Ablacklist>blacklist several times in the past week or so. It would seem that a number of ISPs use this blacklist service as we have seen a significant amount of email bounce back. From our investigations, it would seem that one or more subscribers to mailing lists are unfortunately reporting list mail as spam. We are seeking to remove this source of false reporting. If your ISP uses the SpamCop service and your mail has bounced, we would ask that you request of your ISP to <http://www.google.com/search?q=define%3Awhitelist>whitelist RootsWeb's mailing list servers. Being on a whitelist would allow mail to be delivered, even if we are on a corresponding blacklist. RootsWeb's server details are available from <http://helpdesk.rootsweb.com/help.cgi>RootsWeb's HelpDesk or by enquiring of RootsWeb's postmaster. 5. Good luck! _________________ Keith Dash Sydney, Australia
