The "Statistical Account of Scotland (1791-1799)" and "The New Statistical Account of Scotland (1834-1835)" give detailed descriptions of life and society in each parish of the country. They are key source documents for anybody interested in the social history of Scotland, particularly those who wonder what the conditions at home were like that persuaded their ancestors to emigrate. In the course of his family history research Iain Campbell made comprehensive summaries of the entries for the Parish of Tiree & Coll in both the 'Old' and 'New' Statistical Accounts, and has generously offered to share them with us.
