I have a Christina McDonald born Hienish Tiree in 1835*. In 1841 I believe that she is living in Kenvary with her grandmother (Ann McIntyre) and next door to her uncle Alexander McIntyre** who had sponsored her baptism*. I believe that she is the Christina who next appears in Grey county Ontario in 1871**** and who came to Canada in 1849***. It is possible that she lived with a McIntyre family in Victoria county Ontario and was married there before moving to Grey county. Looking for information to determine the validity of these connections, build on the story, and find ancestor. Thanks Darryl *OPR: Ronald MacDonald in Heanish and Christina MacIntyre in Cornaigmore after the regular proclamation of Banns were married on 22 Feb. 1832. Ronald MacDonald crofter at Heanish and Christina MacIintyre his wife had a son born on the 7th Feb. 1833 and baptized on the 6th March 1833 under the name John. Ronald MacDonald, late crofter at Heanish and Christina MacIntyre his wife had a daughter born 24/3/1835/ and bap. under the name Christina. Alex MacIntyre had acted as sponsor. I think that this solves a mystery for me. In the 1861 census of Mariposa Township. Victoria Co, is listed a Christina as living with the family of Alexander McIntyre/ Mary McKinnon. She is listed after their children but does mot appear in the 1841 Tiree census, or in the OPR as one of their clildren. Her age is given as 22 I believe. > **1841 census: > Possible (likely) location of Christina McDonald born April 1, 1835 at > time of 1841 Tiree census: > Household - name - age - occupation - location - born in county > > 786 McINTYRE Alexander 35 Crofter Kenvary Yes > 786 McINTYRE Mary 30 Kenvary Yes > 786 McINTYRE Catherine 12 Kenvary Yes > 786 McINTYRE Marion 10 Kenvary Yes > 786 McINTYRE Ann 8 Kenvary Yes > 786 McINTYRE Mary 6 Kenvary Yes > 786 McINTYRE Margaret 4 Kenvary Yes > > 787 McINTYRE Ann 60 Kenvary Yes > 787 McINTYRE Malcolm 25 Crofter Kenvary Yes > 787 McINTYRE Neil 25 tailor Kenvary Yes > 787 McINTYRE Isabella 20 Kenvary Yes > 787 McDONALD Christina 6 Kenvary Yes > >>>>>>>>>> > > *****The McIntyre family: > > Dougald McIntyre married Ann McDonald at Cornaigmore, Tyree December 1, > 1789. Dougald McIntyre was the oldest child of Alexander McIntyre and Christan McKillop. per the 1779 census (Inhabitants of the Argyll Estate. At that time the family was living in Ballanuacth: Alexander McIntyre 36 Tenant Christian McKillop 30 Dugald McIntyre 14 Donald MczIntyre 10 (per OPR christened 15 Aug 1768) Malcolm McIntyre 3 (per OPR christened 29 August 1773) Beatrice McIntyre 12 Anne McIntyre 5 (per OPR christened 26 Jan 1771) Flory McIntyre 1 (per OPR christened 2 Feb 1773) in the OPR also a Mary McIntyre christened 26 Nov 1781, father Alexander McIntyre, who may also belong to this family. > > Children christened by Dougald McIntyre and Ann McDonald at Cornaigmore: > Ann 7 Aug. 1795 > Alexander 11 Sept. 1796 > Christy 28 Feb. 1799 > Alexander 16 March 1801 > Catharine 9 June 1803 > Flory 13 Oct. 1805 > Christy 15 Nov. 1809 > Malcolm 25 Sept. 1814 (born 5th Sept.; Dougald is a tenant) > Isabell 15 May 1817 (born 25 April; Dougald is a tenant) This agrees with my research, they also had two other children: Archibald christened 26 Sept 1790 Mary christened 26 October 1792 > > Alexander McIntyre Cornaigmore, Tyree married Mary McKinnon Kirkopoll, > Tyree on 18 May 1828 after regular Banns. > > Children born, and christened, to Alexander McIntyre and Mary McKinnon > at Cornaigmore: > Catharene 17 April 1829 (c. 27 April 1829; Alexander tenant Cornaigmore) > Marion 8th Oct. 1830 (c. 19 Oct. 1830; Alexander tenant Cornaigmore) > Ann 27 Sept. 1832 (c. 24 Oct. 1832; Alexander tenant Cornaigmore) > Mary 7 Sept. 1834 (c. 21 Sept. 1834; Alexander crofter Cornaigmore) > Margaret 8 Oct. 1836 (c. 30 Oct. 1836; Alexander crofter Cornaigmore) > Flora 17 Nov. 1838 (c. 9 Dec. 1838; Alexander crofter Cornaigmore) > Dougald 9 Sept. 1841 (c. 10 Oct. 1841; Alexander crofter Kennovary) > This agrees with my research. The father was the Alexander McIntyre born in 1801, I presume that the Alexander born in 1796 died in infancy or as a small child and the name was "reused" In addition to the children born in Tiree there were more children born in Mariposa Township. Victoria County, after they came to Canada, including John ( my g grandfather) about 1850 and Hector about 1852. A Mary (born about 1854) and a Sarah (born about 1857) are also listed in the census but I am unsure if they were children of Alexander due to the duplication of names (I know that the Mary born in Tiree died about 1887. Alexander McIntyre and Mary McKinnon and their children Dougald, John, Hector amd Mary are all buried in the Scotch Cem., Brock Towhship. Ontario Co, Ontario, which is adjacent to Mariposa Township. The McIntyre farm was the North half of lot 4, Concession 6, Mariposa Towhship. Deane McIntyre dmcintyr@ucalgary.ca
