    3. Hello again fellow Tiree folk, Just received this tip, and you have a few hours left to take advantage of this Tartan Day, April 6 free offer, if you register with an American or Canadian postal code. The Scotsman Newspaper Archive lets you "...search every word on every page in every edition of the Scotsman, right back to the first one in 1817. It's a wonderful window on the history of Edinburgh, of Scotland and of the world." - George MacKenzie, Keeper of the Records of Scotland If you don't see this message in time for the free access to the whole site, then you can still look at the free historical articles available for Tartan Week, though they are not specifically about Tiree. Go to http://archive.scotsman.com and register. Then, if you used a US or Cnd. postal code, when you do your first search, it will tell you that it's free for the rest of today, till midnight UK time. Even if you can't take advantage of today's offer, Searches are free anyway. And a 24 hour access pass only costs 8 pounds. How it works is, when you register with a Cnd or US postal code, For example, for the older Tiree articles, do a search on the old name Tyree and you will get over 700 items to choose from. Excellent one about 8 Balefuil Shipwreck heroes in 1868. Maybe some of my relatives were among them..will have to figure it out later. I will try to post the article here, or at least exerpts from it. If any of you can take advantage of today's offer, please let the List know if you found any other goodies about Tiree. Have fun reading the old news! Louise MacDougall Vancouver Island, BC Canada
