Dear Listers, Am I on the right list for folk in and around Dunoon? My road map doesnt even have Argyll anymore. Did it get the chop? If so it leaves me relying on distant memories. I am looking for the families above, Steven and Maria Chalmers nee McFarlane known to be in Dunoon 1881, along with Maria's parents Alexander and Ann nee Simpson along with son David and daughter Charlotte Maxwell Mcfarlane. Steven descends from James Chalmers and Janet Lauder. Janet descends from John Lauder, we know two of his brothers, Robert and William Murray Lauder but cant yet name his parents. The three brothers were born in St Ninians, so I expect I also need to contact a Stirlingshire list. Steven was a photographer. Does any one know if there if a local history soc in Dunoon which may have knowledge of a local photographer If any one recognises these families I'd be interested in trading information. I have dates etc for anyone wanting more detail. My knowledges stretches from 1782 John Lauder up to 1900 when Steven and his family left Dunoon as far as is known, (mostly for Rothesay). moira
