    3. Ardkinglas house didn't exist until 1907 when it was built by a man called Robert Lorimer but I'm not sure if the actual estate existed before that date. Ardkinglas is on the east shore of Loch Fyne next to the village or Cairndow (Kilmorich and Lochgoilhead parish) but would come under the lands of the Duke or Argyll and in distance is very close to Inverary where the family seat is.(+/- 5 miles). These days Ardkinglas house is open for corporate events and as a location for film and tv (the dramatisation of Iain Banks 'The Crow Road' was set around it and the gardens have been turned into woodland walks. There is a website, www.ardkinglas.com with a contact email address. Katrina Halsey Mungungo wrote: > My great grandmother (Jessie ARMSTRONG) was born on the Ardkinglas Estate > in approx 1826.
