    3. Hi List, Thank you to all that replied to my querry about Glen Garr. I think that it may have been the name of a property. I have a Walter Whiteman of Glen Garr, Argyleshire, this entry was made in a book written by his son in law in 1909. Walter had a son also named Walter who emigrated to New Zealand in the 1860's, he had a property in NZ that he also named Glen Garr. Walter senior was in business in Glasgow in 1820's, and his marriage and the birth of his children are all registered at Barony, Lanarkshire. But they are not on the census for Barony 1851. I have just got hold of this book and think that the mention of Glen Garr should be acurate as the author knew them personally at the time. I have heard mention of an ancestral home in Scotland and have been searching for some time now, this is the closest I've got to narrowing it down.
