Researching the McAlpine family from North Knapdale. Donald McAlpine b. 1787 in Oile Campbell d. 1 Mar 1859 in Aldborough married Betty(Betsy) Black b. 1788 d. BEF 1871.This family emigrated to Aldborough Twp. Ontario, Canada in 1818 . Donald was the son of Alexander McAlpine(MacAlpin or MacAlpine) and Katherine McInterand. Family history states that they left for religious reasons, on the "Mars" from Tobermory, Isle of Mull. Donald had one brother: Malcolm b. 1798 d. 1860 married Marion Black and two sisters; Mary b. 1792 who married Donald McGugan 29 Mar 1813 Flora b. 1784 who married Donald Campbell. All siblings also emigrated to Canada between 1818 AND 1820. Donald and Betsy's children were as follows: Nancy McAlpine b. 1808 d. 1880 married Duncan Leitch Flora McAlpine b. 1809 married Archibald Murray 1 Mar 1836 Mary McAlpine b. 1811 never married Alexander McAlpine b. 25 Apr 183 in Oile Campbell married Christena Brown 9 Feb. 1837 Catherine McAlpine b. 1818 in Aldborough never married Christy Mcalpine b. 1819 married John McKillop Betsy McAlpine b. 1820 married Donald McArthur Sarah McAlpine b. 1822 married Donald McLean Elizabeth McAlpine b. 1823 never married Rebecca McAlpine b. 1831 never married Mary McAlpine b. 1832 married Duncan Campbell Donald McAlpine b. 1833 married Catherine McAlpine Rachel McAlpine b. 1835 never married Any information about the following people would be appreciated. My Scottish ancestors came from Argyll to Elgin Co (which is where Aldborough Twp. is) a little later than yours. One of the really helpful sites is abstracts of Surrogate Court records--estate settlements. They are not searchable, but I have found so much helpful information about my family. I go back to them periodically and scroll through them again. I don't see any direct connection to your family although I have some peripheral connections to Black, McKillop, McLean, and Campbell families. My primary line is Munro. The URL is below.
