Early One Sunday morning just woken up and bleary eyed, I recieved a long distance phone call from a Mary MacDonald from Toronto asking me if I was related to a Hugh McPherson from Drumchapel, Glasgow. I replied that although Hugh was a common christian name in my family over the generations I did not know of any Hugh McPherson in Drumchapel and the enquery ended there. My McPherson ancestors came from Craignish Parish Mid Argyll 1758 to 1871 the last member being Hugh McPherson born Glassary 1794 widow of Annabella Livingstone remarried to Christian Muir in Craignish 1850 he died at Barracken farm, Craignish in April 1871. After speaking to an elderly cousin Hugh McPherson of Springboig, Shettleston,Glasgow I learned that there had indeed been a Hugh McPherson of Drumchapel in the family though he was by then dead and survived by a married daughter name unknown in Drumchapel. This is one of those really chance in a million requests, but I wonder if this Mary MacDonald of Toronto might read this message and get back to me now?
