Carla Islay had basically three old parishes Bowmore or Kilarrow, Kildalton and Kilchoman. In the 19th century the parishes were divied up to some extent and Kilmeny (part of Bowmore), Oa (part of Kildalton) and Portnahaven (part of Kilchoman) were created, although Kilmeny in eatlier times is sometimes used for the parish of Bowmore. However, since your enquiry is about someone who was born about 1870, may I suggest that you look first at the statutory registers as the birth should be recorded there and knowledge of parish names may not help very much.
