    3. Listers - This is a request for research guidance. Peter McCallum received a land grand in Simcoe Co., Ontario, Canada. He was from Stirlingshire; however he very likely was born in Argyll. About 1830, he received a land grant in Ontario Canada. The land grant was an "S.E." grant which was a grant given only to SONS of Military Emigrants in 1815. We are tracing down the land grant now in Canada. However, I am interested in how to find out the military records of the individual. Have been informed about the PROCAT index for War Office records and am also aware of Military Records Soldiers Documents 1760-1872 (a series of microfilms on Scot military service personnel-FHL868543 etc.). I am curious about any other (or all) military or pension record resources for soldiers serving from Argyll or Stirlingshire. Thanks so much. Your sharing and knowledge are so very much appreciated by those of us just entering into this research. One last question is there a good book for family research prior to 1830 in Scotland? The one I purchased is primarily focused on research after the 1850's and since my people left Canada in the 1830's, it is of little value. Thanks so much - Lois ===== My personal website: http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~virginiawesttooregon The complete database of our family history: http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~familylibrary/ __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!?
