Dear LIST Diamand Campbell's item re transportation in Scotland - This message was so interesting, it made me wonder about an offshoot of the transport industry and that was for someone who owned?leased a timber yard. Did they cart their timber to the mill at Corpach near Fort William, on the Canal, by dray or ship, and seeing that trees seem to be very scarce in that part of the highlands the questions come more and more. Where did the timber come from? Is there any documation via Library records of this part of industry, the people involved, Keith's GGGrandfather was Alan McKenzie lived in the area for over 20 that we know of and we are yet to find out anything or anyone who knows of him or his family and descendants.
