    3. I have some Loves in my Family Tree from Kilberry and Islay whom I believe changed their name from McKinven, but so far have found no evidence of my own to support this. I found another researcher on the Islay list with a common relative (Donald Love who married a Janet McFarlane on Islay around 1843) who mentioned this and George F Black's book on the surnames of Scotland states that MacKinven is a Gaelic rendering of the Ayrshire family name Love. Have you come across people who changed their name from MacKinven to Love and vice versa?
