Hi, I'm new to list & would like to post my surname interests for Arygll. I am researching the family of Donald MCLACHLAN, b abt 1789, & Ann MCLEAN, b abt 1808, both of Appin. Known children: Alexander b abt 1828, Mary b abt 1835, Christy b abt 1840, Angus b abt 1845, Allan b abt 1847, Ewen b abt 1848, Maggie b abt 1851. I have a record which suggests 9 children, but have only found 7. All of the children were born in or about Appin. They came to Canada as a family in 1851 and farmed in Glengarry County, Ontario. I have the family well researched from the 1861 Canada census to current day. Present day spelling of the family name is MacLachlan. They all belonged to the Prebyterian Church of Scotland in Canada.
