I have been browsing a CD I ordered - Argyll Courts by WFL Bigwood (available on Amazon.com UK) It's been fascinating reading, even if I never acquire any of my specific family information. My question is in reference to a place spelled Kelipole in these old court records. Although the particular record is recent (about 1819) compared to most of what is contained on the CD (1700's) it makes reference to a place spelled Kelipole. I want to say this is likely the same as Colipole (on Luing) but am not sure. Can anyone advise? All help is appreciated. Joy, USA
Joy, There is a farm called Killipoll on an early 1800s map of Kintyre, but I see that there has been a lot of forestry work and dam-building done in that area on a modern map. To point out where it was: if you draw a line straight southwest from Ardnacross (on the east coast of Kintyre) and another straight northwest from Campbelltown, they will intersect about where Killipoll was. It was also straight east from Tangy farm. I hope that helps - Marcia Joy wrote: > > I have been browsing a CD I ordered - Argyll Courts by WFL Bigwood > (available on Amazon.com UK) It's been fascinating reading, even if I > never acquire any of my specific family information. > > My question is in reference to a place spelled Kelipole in these old > court records.
