Elinor, thank you, it has been a time since I visited the FreeCen site. What I meant previously is that, perhaps only on the handwritten originals of the Census, a dwelling's location or house name is occasionally given. I was hoping for something similar so that the particular location of the dwelling could be identified. Perhaps if one dwelling is identifiable, perhaps many pages prior to or subsequent to the dwelling in question, the more exact location could be deduced. I note from FreeCen that John Rankin's family is on Page 15 and Neil Rankin's is on Page 17 so, unless they all lived in a very large dwelling, they were fairly near neighbours but not at the same address. Is that correct? Page 1 of this Folio 11 is a large listing of names from all over, but those from the Duror Qs district are in the "Balachulish District". From Page 2 they are in "Balachulish". Could someone speculate that these may have been dwellings provided by the Ballachulish quarry company for the quarrymen? And, as I queried earlier, I wonder if the handwritten originals may give clues to a more precise location of the dwelling in Ballachulish. Hi Bill, The only way you can see for yourself, the written census, is to order it from the LDS or go to scotlandspeople and paying for each page, which could be quite expensive. If ordered from LDS you pay for the whole census and are able to see if the information you are after, is there. Best wishes, Elinor.
