Hi everyone I have two references to the birthplace of Robert Macfarlan, provost of Dumbarton both listed above. I am able to locate Glenaruel on a modern map but I have not located Inverchaolain, although I have found an Inverchaolain Glen. Is Glenaruel in the parish of Inverchaolain, or are they in separate parts of Argyll? Regards Cathy
Glendaruel is in the Parish of Kilmoden, the parish church is in the Clachan of Glendaruel. I am researching a Weir family from this parish. Do you have any Weir on a twig of your family tree? Regards, Colin McCallum. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Cathy Dowie" <[email protected]> To: <[email protected]> Sent: Saturday, October 14, 2006 2:48 AM Subject: [ARGYLL] Glendaruel v Inverchaolin > Hi everyone > > I have two references to the birthplace of Robert Macfarlan, provost of > Dumbarton both listed above. Dear Mary, Colin and Katie Many thanks for all your helpful suggestions and information. They all tie in together perfectly. I am attempting to tidy up branches of my Macfarlan family. Robert, the provost of Dumbarton was such a character. I hope to include his branch of the family in my book - if I ever get it to print. Does any one have access to the 1841 Census of Argyll? I would love to find Robert senior and Helen Macfarlan with their first child, Duncan who was born in 1840 in Fearnock, Argyll. We didn't get to Argyll when we were in Scotland in 2001. I would love to go back for another trip but I don't see it happening. Thanks once again Cathy On 14/10/06 8:42 PM, "Colin McCallum" <[email protected]> wrote: > Glendaruel is in the Parish of Kilmoden, the parish church is in the Clachan > of Glendaruel.
