To Debra Black: I suppose Archibald Black is a fairly common name. But here's what I have. Archibald Black Menzies was born to Margaret Black (unmarried) and Robert Andrew Menzies in Oban in 1875. We have assumed that Margaret's father was likely an Archibald Black. The census report says she was from Tobermory, and would have been born around 1853. But nobody her age seems to have been born in Tobermory. It's possible Margaret's parents lived in the Lismore area. That's not much to go on, but it may provide some clues for you. Sheila in Missouri
