I fear Ruth must have changed email addresses - I don't know - perhaps I will send a test message to her at both the address you have and also on the list. Thanks for these pages from the Blackwood's Edinburgh Magazine. I am not sure what I am supposed to find in it but it refuses to go further back than page 263 which is the start of an article on Scottish Marriage and Registration Bills. Glad I am not a lawyer! Many thanks again for your work - I didn't know this magazine existed. It is interesting about John McSporran who married Mary McSporran - I know the parents of Susan were cousins. But there seems to also be John (Niell) McSporran married to a Mary McSporran. I expect the local folk knew which was which but how can we tell?
