New to this list. I have a Marion MORRISON who married John BROWN in Cathcart/Renfrew in November of 1861. Her birth year, estimated from marriage, census, and death records would be about 1834 to 1840. The 1871 and 1881 censuses say she was born in Islay/Argyll. Her marriage says her parents were James MORRISON, labourer, deceased and Jane Morrison MS McPHAIL. She was age 22, residing Pit Street in Glasgow. On her death registration in 1902 her parents were given as James MORRISON, distillery labourer, deceased, and Janet Morrison MS McPHEE, deceased. The informant was her youngest child, Mary, my grandmother, who died when my mother was only 14. I have searchedfor her mother in the death indexes for any death of a J. Mor(r)ison with another surname of McPhail, McPhee, McFee, McFie, all soundexed and any other variation I can think of with no result. There is one possibility for Marion Morrison on the 1861 census - there is a Marion Morrison, age 17, farm servant, living with Robert STEWART and his wife Marion (age 44) in Eastwood/Renfrew. She is shown as a niece and both Marions show Islay as place of birth. Robert Stewart died in 1879 and his parents were James Stewart and Margaret Park. His wife, Marion, died 3 months before him in 1879, and her parents were given as Malcom CURRIE and Mary TAYLOR. I have not been able to find any relationship between either of them and my Marion Morrison. I have not found any definite (or even probable) family on the 1841 FreeCen indexes. I am open to any suggestions -- or finding new relatives! Irene, in Michigan
