Bill Taylor I think that you will find that this is a question of misreading not misspelling. The entry in in Col 1 of Census 1841 541/04/p13 is actually Island of Texa. If you look it up on www.scotlandspeople.gov.uk I think that you will find that I am right. On the version that I have I can see that you might have thought tha what is actually 'or' is actually 'ex' with a very 'narrow' letter 'e'. There is actually a place called Torra in Kildalton parish but it is not an island and this is not it.
