    3. Hello Kirsten, As you have seen my reply to Duncan and Pam I won't repeat what I've already said. The book itself has a great deal of information about land ownership and usage therefore there are few references to the female population other than those owning land. There are interesting articles from Diaries and Memoirs which give a picture of life down through the past two centuries, including the evictions that took place. I think the farm you refer to as Laudle has changed ie: Laldie 1494 Lawdill 1674 Laudale 1755 remains of 6 houses - 2 houses occupied until World War 11 Laudell 1770 Glenladale 1789 Laudile 1824 The farm is situated on the lower side of Loch Sunart. There is a reference to Hugh MacMaster born 1796 who was the head shepherd at Achranich {there are no Mc in the index only Mac} also a footnote about his daughter Anne who was 20 in the 1841 Census but only 26 ten years later "probably because they were being paid for casual labour by the estate at rates higher than their real ages justified." As your Mary McMaster was born 1799 could they have been related? There is an entry under the heading of Lochaline Village about 1868 describing a row of houses some being slated and others thatched, "a two story building built by a man by the name of Angus Morrison, the ground floor of which was let to a Publican the name of MacInnes and the upper floor to tenants." Also an entry for John Morison as a tenant at Achnaha. I will try to scan the map and send it directly to your email address as an attachment. Regards, Mary
