G'day Les, Thank you very much for taking the time to reply to my query. Unfortunately I don't have access to the LDS Campbeltown Parish Records microfilm any more so can't check that specific period again for my Robert. When I did have access to that film, I went back and forward over that particular period looking for him but couldn't see anything that even vaguely resembled his baptism, but as you say, there may have been a page or pages missing. And I just checked the "transcriptions" on Ancestry for John Carmichael and found one in 1851 there, born about 1806 in Glasgow who has been transcribed as a "Che Of The Minisley Of The Par Of Campbell" which sounds as though he was a minister. I should have checked that first before asking the list sorry - sometimes I get so involved I forget even the basics! I have sent a copy of that certificate directly to Les for his insight. Thank you very much for your assistance with this Les. If his birth/baptism was registered by the Session Clerk, why > wasn't it in the Parish Register? Could it be that there was a page missing or an obliterated entry. He'd need to look at the period 13 Aug 1851 to 25 Aug 1851 > 2. Was John Carmichael a minister of one of the Campbeltown churches > in 1851? As he has access to the LDS records a look at the 1851 Campbeltown Census would confirm whether there was a Rev John Carmichael at the time. If he has a copy of the 'baptism certificate' could he please e-mail it to me. Regards Les
