This enquiry possibly relates to Ayrshire, I think, but as I don't belong to that list I hope the wise heads here may be able to assist. On 6 Dec 1835, Christian DOWNIE married John RANKIN (OPR records for Lismore Appin and Duror) at Ballachulish or Duror. They are in the 1841 Census where John is listed as a quarryman. They emigrated for NSW, arriving January 1844 on the ship "Herald". With them was their daughter (both mother and daughter now named Christina) along with John's brother Neil Rankin, his wife Mary McTaggart and their children. When Christina Rankin made her will in 1861, having been widowed earlier, she named her daughter as a beneficiary and executor but also names her sister, KATHERINE DOWNEY. This is where my query arises. Her sister is described as of ANDREWLAN, LOUDON, Scotland. Can anyone help to place this for me please? Best regards Bill.
