    3. Hi Folks We have just had a few days to ourselves here, which means he gets to do railway stuff, I get to do Parish archive work, and we go for walks and places locally together (the rest of the year one of us has to be here at all times, we are open 7 days a week, and its only ourselves.) We finally managed to get down to the Argyll and Bute Archives in Lochgilphead, and got to see the difficult situation our "archivists" are working under. We got some interesting transcribing done in the short time. and got to a couple of local places with the camera. I also got to sorting out some of the pile of filing of papers and records so that the Archive here at Kintaline makes a bit more sense, and means that when I can snatch a moment to print more out from the harvest I have on this computer, then it has a place to go. It will also be a lot easier to get it into the forum. I have uploaded the pics up onto the Ardchattan albums http://picasaweb.google.co.uk/ardchattan and have also added more info and records on to the parish project forum. Please have a wander around and I hope you find something interesting. The History of Argyll course is GREAT -- its full on, lots of information flying around, he knows his stuff alright. I really hope that there will be lots of you coming over here for Homecoming -- the pound is cheap, but book early as it seems that local bookings for accommodation are 30% up already. We hope you will drop in and see us when you are in Argyll, the kettle is always on, email is the best way to contact us, and if you have an Ardchattan interest then PLEASE let me know in advance, then I can make sure I get cover so we can concentrate. ;) regards Jill Bowis www.lorn.org.uk Local Origins Rural Network - Local Producers Market & Business/Community Network www.kintaline.co.uk - where we are, what we do: Kintaline Plant and Poultry Centre www.benderloch.org.uk/forum - Ardchattan history, geology, ecology, genealogy, weather, webcam, local forum

    3. Booking as we speak, Jill... We didn't make it to Scotland last year, but we hope to do so early this summer and in our over-ambitious itinerary around the family haunts, I'm seriously trying to fit in a visit to Kintaline, the farm shop at least and maybe even the Farmer's Market, not just for some eggs and lamb etc, but indeed hoping to say hi and put a face to an @ sign, on our way to or from Lochgilphead where I have a similar mission to your own. Look forward to seeing the pictures. Thanks for the tips. We'll be trailing a caravan but may want to spend a night or two B & B on Islay or Colonsay, so your advice is worth remembering. Just having trouble trying to fit the whole of Scotland in and relax as well. :-) Will keep you posted offlist. I'm glad to hear you're enjoying the Argyll history course; makes us envious. One of my distant cousins gives lectures on Argyll's past and then and it's a pity we can't be in on them in person. And if only BBC Alba could be made available, here or online... Oh well.
