    3. I wish to correct a seriously important omission from the memorial inscription that I contributed last week, which shows how easy it is to make errors, particularly from hard-to-decipher, lichen encrusted stones. I missed out the 2nd line, that Duncan McColl in 1872 was from KINLOCHLEVEN even though he was commemorating his forebears buried in the Glen Etive estate, some miles south in a different area DUNCAN McCOLL KINLOCHLEVEN IN MEMORY OF HIS THREE CHILDREN WHO DIED IN INFANCY AND TO MARK THE GRAVE OF HIS FOREFATHERS WHO ARE INTERRED HERE 1872 To quote Les who picked up my omission: I wonder if it meant Kinlochleven (Cottage) which is/was on the Argyll/southern side of Loch Leven.  As Kinlochleven (village) - as it is now - was Kinlochmore in Inverness-shire & Kinlochbeg in Argyll before the Aluminium smelter came opened in  1909 and housing built for the employees.  Although Kinlochleven (Cottage) was in Lismore & Appin Parish - as was Glen Etive - it was enumerated in Ballachulish and Corran of Ardgour - there was no road between the head of Loch Leven and Glencoe village until 1914-18 when it was built by German POW's Bill
