I guess transcription errors, although unfortunate, do add to the mystery of researching ancestors. Think of all the hair-pulling and head-scratching we'd miss if records had no errors, and names/places were always correctly entered. It just wouldn't be quite as much fun! The harder your search has been for an ancestor, the bigger your sense of achievement when you finally find them. Hats off to all the unpaid volunteers out there who contribute so much to family history.
