Hello Listers, I am trying to find the birth record for James Boyd who was born in Southend Argyllshire Scotland about 1849. I think I have found him in the 1871 census in Killean, working as an Ag Lab. age 22 . I also have a Statutory Marriage record for James BOYD and Mary MCGHEE showing his parents to be James BOYD, and Margaret BOYD, maiden surname BOYD. I am pretty sure this is the correct James BOYD. However, on the 1871 Census taken in April that James is unmarried. How far is Killean from Campbeltown or Southend.? I only get 2 hits for BOYD on SP between 1840 and 1850 and neither match the parents. I understand that the Registers for the Roman Catholic Church were not indexed. Was there a Catholic Church in Southend in 1849 and is it still there? I have a copy of a birth record for James BOYD b 11/04/1849 parents: James BOYD/Janet MCMillen.
