    1. [ARGYLL] : Camerons/Livingstone at Aharacle and/or Strontian

    3. I'm sorry Janet, I don't have any other Livingston(e) on 'my tree' apart from the Catherine I mentioned below. And all I know of her is that she was born in Argyll and from her age at death this must have been ca 1800. The person I am chasing was married to Elspeth INNES who died in 1882 and appear to have had a son named James who probably didn't survive the 1851 census? Janet ----- Original Message ----- From: "Don Sutherland" <faldocs@bigpond.com> : According to the IGI, Hugh Cameron (b 1812) and Catherine Livingstone (b : 1800) had two children at Aharacle (actually Acharacle?). They were Jane on : 18/2/1832 and Alexander on 27/10/1833. Does anyone recognise or know : anything of this family? : : I suspect, but can't prove, that they eventually emigrated to Australia and : settled near Mount Gambier, near the border of Victoria and South Australia. : I also suspect that this same Catherine Livingstone may have been previously : married to James Cameron (who died 1827) and had a son by him, also called : James, who was b 1822 at either Strontian or Glenborrodale, and who : emigrated from Tobermory to Australia in 1839 aboard the British King, along : with his future wife, Katherine McEachern and her family. This James : eventually settled in the Western District of Victoria, became a fairly : successful squatter and is thought to have later brought his mother, : step-father and half-sister Jane out to Australia - presumably the Hugh : Cameron, Catherine Livingston and Jane, mentioned above, but as I said : above, I'm durned if I can prove any of this. : : I live in hope that one day I might be able to unravel this little puzzle : and would be very grateful if anyone can help. : : Don Sutherland

    3. Thanks for looking Don for I think communicating in this way is better than just waiting for a lead. Good luck with your searches for Catherine's family.
