I cant specifically say I have been able to find anything much at all about Cameron's from that area. They have remained a mystery, but my connection is through Margaret Cameron b abt 1791 who m Alexander Macvean in 1812 at Achnellan. her parents from her death certificate were Alexander Cameron & Anne Cameron. Other names that turn up are Duncan Cameron who owed money at the time or Alexander Macvean's death and which was accepted by Allan Cameron sometime residing at Resipole, Strontian. Their son Hugh Macvean m Marjory Cameron of Aharacle at Ardgour (the other side of the mountains where Hugh & family lived) in 1852. Camerons of that lot came to Victoria as did the majority of the descandants of the Macveans. I descend from one of those Macveans, many of whom had property in Victoria as squatters and otherwise. They eventually spread further out through nSW, Qld & WA. The Camerons of Hugh's wife's family ended up largely in Nagambie at a place they called Polloch, and indeed as they died out the asset seemed to largely pass to their neice Anne Isabella Macvean who m Francis Wellington Were. So while I cant make a connection, I really wonder how they might fit with the Camerons that are part of the Macvean connections??
